MEMORIAL

In Loving Memory of Mike Mentzer

(November 15, 1951 - June 10, 2001)

"It is only within the context of having properly developed your mind that you will be able to truly enjoy the achievement of your material values, including that of a more muscular body."
---- Mike Mentzer

It's hard to believe that it has been two years since Mike Mentzer passed away. For those of us who knew him, his presence is with us daily; in our quiet moments we hear his chuckle, or are reminded of his admonition to question, to research, to experiment - which means to use our faculty of reason to discern answers to bodybuilding's (and life's) greatest questions. We are fortunate that much of the void that was left by his passing has been filled with the tremendous wealth of information in the books, articles, essays, audio recordings and photos that Mike left us.

At Mikementzer.com, Mike's legacy is not only continuing - it is growing. People from all over the world have contacted us about the positive effects that Mike's teachings have had on their lives - from gaining muscle, losing fat, and superlative physical conditioning, to achieving knowledge, certainty, and happiness. As always, Mike Mentzer has something of value to say to anyone willing to listen. Through Mikementzer.com and Mentzer-Sharkey Enterprises, Inc., all of us will continue to receive the benefits of Mike's direct communication of his teachings to us.

Over the course of the next year, we are planning to release a host of new, authentic Mike Mentzer products to his fans and followers. New insights into the science of stimulating muscle growth, recovery time, nutrition, total fitness, will be forthcoming, as well as his insights into the philosophy of the Objectivist virtues of reason, purpose and self-esteem.

One of the most significant releases will be Mike's very last writing - a short story that was intended for inclusion in what proved to be his last book (High Intensity Training The Mike Mentzer Way, McGraw-Hill Publishing, © 2002), but was cut at the last minute due to space restrictions. This story is called "The Integrated Man", and it is not only Mike's final writing but, quite frankly, Mike was very proud of it. In this story, Mike relates the essentials of HEAVY DUTY ™ High Intensity bodybuilding and nutrition via the artistic device of a narrative tale. Believe us, you will not want to miss this magnificent crowning glory to an already stellar career. (More details on this remarkable find will be available shortly through this website).

Thank you for your continued support of Mikementzer.com, Mike's official website, over the past two years. It is through your support that Mike's message - in his own words and as he wished them to be presented - has continued to enlighten the lives of thousands of bodybuilders all over the world. Your patronage and dedication to Mikementzer.com has helped to ensure the successful continuation of Mike Mentzer's works.

With Mike's last book now published, the continuation of his phone consultation programs for HEAVY DUTYTM Training, and the thousands of readers who eagerly devour the monthly Heavy Duty column in Ironman magazine, Mike is still very much with us. Given the extent of his continued influence on the world of bodybuilding, we might be forgiven for thinking that perhaps Mike hasn't left us after all; he's simply changed his residence. Now, he resides in the hearts and minds of us all.

We shall continue to walk forward as he would have wished; with the torch of reason that Mike lit held high above our heads, illuminating the way to a more rational and benevolent future.

"The principle that I am advocating, the one that makes it possible for the bodybuilder to actualize his potential in a very short time, is that neither "more is better" nor "less is better," but "precise is best."
--- Mike Mentzer

Mike Mentzer's legendary HEAVY DUTY teachings and philosophy live on!

We would like to extend special thanks to the Mentzer family.

Sincerely,

Mentzer-Sharkey Enterprises, Inc.
